The above information is from the 1900 census.
It shows William, age 48, living with his wife Millie, three children, and two servants. I know it's just the romantic in me, but I did notice that the housekeeper is named Mary. She would be around the same age as his second wife. Could he have left his wife for the maid?
I did do a little research into these children from the first marriage. I found Ruth and Nora but, I could not find any information on Leonard his only son. I began assuming that he was killed in a war. Finally my husband talked to someone in town who told him the story that William and Millie practiced a religion that did not believe in medical treatments. Leonard fell sick and due to a lack of treatment died.

The above information is from the 1910 census.
It shows William as divorced and living with a farm hand and house keeper. Sadly, housekeeper is not Mary, but I will not be discouraged until I research the matter further.

The above information is from the 1930 census.
It is the first mention of Mary and Gladys. It also shows Mary's son Ewing as the hired manager of the farm. I got most of my insight on Mary and Gladys from the abstract of the property which I will post an account of later.
