Henry Brodersen was born at Horstedt, Schlewig Holstein, Germany, August 23rd, 1845. He passed away May 18, 1928, being in the 83rd year of his age. His life was about equally divided between his native land and the United States of America to which country he emigrated in 1890, coming directly to Wyoming, Iowa, and living either here or in this neighborhood ever since. In Germany he had three years of military training and was also called back for service in 1870 and 1871.

Interment was made in the beautiful Wyoming cemetery.
Attending from a distance W.W. Brodersen, Denver; Mr and Mrs Chris Bahnsen, Rock Falls; Mr. and Mrs Joe Tompkins, Miles.
NOTE: The spelling of Henry's sister Christina Wohlard is actually wrong...her correct name was Christine Wohlert.

Grandma Elva Brodersen's hand written notes to Sharon:
Thomas Brodersen, the Grandfather of Sharon Brodersen Lindbloom was born near Husum, Schleswig Holstein - in 1880 & His father Henry Brodersen was born before Germany took the country from Denmark was trained in the German & in 1871 fought in the Franco German war. He fought all the way to Paris - That was a hardship he never forgot. He married and had a family the last birth was twins 1884 and one baby died also the mother. The Grandmother went to live in the home and care for the Children & one cold winter day the house burned down. With that he looked toward America since the oldest boy Peter was getting in line for the Army. With two older children he came to America & in 1896 returned for the three boys Thomas, Herman & William the twin.In 1914 a Hans Brodersen (no relation) came over and after a very few years returned & married a Brodersen a distant relative of our family.
In the early 80's a Brodersen lived on the vary farm we now live on & moved to Northwest of Iowa. Henry Brodersen had one sister who came to America. The rest lived in Husum or near. Henry sailed back three times, so crossed the Atlantic seven times. I'm sure, close as the family keep to one another that if your father was a cousin you would have been told the story of a man who saw so far into the future of his family.

ALDEN-BRODERSEN NUPTIALS
At the home of Mr. and Mrs. A.G. Alden southwest of Wyoming occurred at high noon of February twenty-fifth, nineteen hundred thirteen, the celebration of the marriage of the older daughter of the house hold, Miss Elva, to Thomas Brodersen. The omens, were all auspicious. The skies were fair, the sun shone in the splendor of his midwinter glory, and happy and hopeful participants and friends gathered at the chosen hour to consummate the betrothal of these well known and highly esteemed young people.
The spacious country home of the bride's parents was a bower of beauty and fragrance. Killarney and Richmond roses, double carnations, sweet peas and smilax gratified the olfactories and delighted the eyes.
The marriage service of the Methodist Church was pronounced by the Rev H.E. Wilcox of LaPorte City, Iowa; the Rev A.S. Nickless of the Presbyterian Church of Wyoming, offering prayer. After the solemn and sacred vows had been taken the hearty congratulations of all present were showered upon Mr. and Mrs. Brodersen.
The groom is an industrious and thrifty farmer who has already laid the material foundations for a home and who has the qualities of manhood which insure steady progress to a competence. The bride was born and reared in this community, and has had an active part in church work and social circles. She was won an enviable reputation as a pianist, music teacher and reader, having often assisted at private functions and public entertainments. Despite these accomplishments she has not been weaned from the farm and rural life, and so is qualified for the duties of a farmer's wife and to maintain the higher social phases of the modern rural household.
A sumptuous wedding dinner was served in courses by the Misses Ida Fishwild, Hattie Eichhorn and Laura Eichhorn, cousins of the bride and of the groom.
Many beautiful and useful presents from relatives and friends were received.
Mr. and Mrs. Brodersen left Tuesday evening for a short wedding trip and will soon be "at home" to their friends on the farm north of Hale which Mr. Brodersen has rented.
That they may have "bon voyage" and the wish of host of friends.
