NORA SPRINGS - Floyd L. Harms, 60, of Ponderosa Court in Nora Springs, died Saturday (March 22, 2008) at his residence in Nora Springs.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 27, at the Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second 2nd St. S.E. in Mason City with the Rev. Chris Clarkson officiating. The Mason City Memorial Association will provide military respects at the conclusion of Floyd's service. Cremation will take place in the care of Fullerton Funeral Home. Inurnment will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 28, in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.
The family will greet relatives and friends from noon until Floyd's service at 1 p.m. Thursday at Fullerton Funeral Home in Mason City

Floyd Harms, the first-born of twin sons, was delivered into the world on Oct. 25, 1947, at Lutheran Hospital in Hampton. Floyd and his brother, Lloyd, were placed into the loving arms of their parents, Stenus Junior and Clara Erma (Davis) Harms. Floyd, the smaller of the two, was lovingly nicknamed "Pee Wee" and known as such by some family members throughout his life.
When Floyd was still an infant, the family relocated to Mason City, where Floyd attended school and graduated among the Class of 1967.
Floyd was inducted into the United States Marine Corps on Dec. 28, 1967 from Des Moines and served his country during the Vietnam War. While in conflict in Vietnam, Lloyd became a casualty of the war, thus, Floyd was honorably discharged from Camp Pendleton, Calif., on Nov. 20, 1968, and returned to Iowa.
In 1969, Floyd was united in marriage to Paula Freeman. The couple became the parents of two sons, Todd and Anthony. Although the marriage later dissolved, Floyd and Paula remained true to the best interests of their sons.
Floyd married Julie Christiansen at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Mason City on Nov. 30, 1979. Two daughters, Janel and Stacey, were born to this union, however, the marriage ended in 1993.
Floyd was employed as a mill operator for over 30 years at Holcim Manufacturing in Mason City.
Some of Floyd's favorite leisure activities and hobbies included fishing, cooking, vegetable gardening, playing cards, dice and cribbage, watching wrestling (WWE) on television and visiting with his family and friends. Spending time and conversing with his children and grandchildren and tending to his three pets, Missy, Jake and Sam were of great delight to Floyd.
Floyd will be sadly missed by family and friends who have shared in his life.
He is survived by his son, Anthony "Tony" Harms of Wilmington, Ill.; his daughters, Janel Harms, of Britt, and Stacey Harms, of Nora Springs; his daughter-in-law, Erica Harms-Abney of Royalton, Ill.; his granddaughter, Elizabeth Harms; and grandson, Taylor Harms. Floyd will also be cherished by numerous other relatives and friends.
Preceding Floyd in death are his son, Todd Harms in May of 2000: his parents, Stenus and Clara Harms; his stepfather, Francis "Dale" Grover; and his brother, Lloyd Harms.
