Melvin L. Bailey, 85, died Wednesday Dec. 17, 1986 at a Mason City Nursing home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church Wayside chapel witht he rev. Charles Q. Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery Mason City Iowa. Visitation is after 2 p.m.Frday at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, Mason City. The family requests memorials be made to the Melvin L. Bailey Memorial Fund.
He was born Dec. 8, 1901, at Green City, Mo., to Harrison and Mary R. (Sears) Bailey. At an early age, he moved with his family to Mason City. On Oct. 21, 1926, he married Hazel M. Harris in Forest City, Iowa. Following her death he married Florence Brookings on Jan, 21, 1968. She also preceded him in death.
He worked for over 15 years at the Northwest States Portland Cement Company, Mason City. He then farmed from 1946 to 1967, when he retired. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Pleasant Ridge Neighborhood club. Survivors include: two daughters
